Things You Must Avoid During the Two-Week Curing Process

Curing time for all Ceramic Pro coating packages is 2-3 weeks depending on environmental conditions such as humidity and temperature. Make sure to avoid the following during this time period.

  • Exposure to water and rain. The ceramic coating needs time to cure. Exposure to rain, sprinklers, and water (including foggy conditions) may impact the coatings durability. It also can lead to water spotting on the coating.

  • Do NOT wash a vehicle for at least two-weeks after receiving delivery of your ceramic coated vehicle.

  • Avoid Parking Under Trees: Tree Sap, leaves, and branches can cause etching and scratching on a ceramic coating.

  • Avoid allowing bird droppings, bug splatter, sap, pollen to sit on the car for more than a few days. If your vehicle is exposed to these contaminates, use Americana Global Detail Spray to spot clean the area with a clean microfiber towel.

  • No washing the vehicle for at least two weeks. If you feel as if your vehicle was exposed to the above situations, please contact your Certified Ceramic Pro Installer for guidance on how to remove contaminants.

PPF AFTERCARE

MAINTAIN YOUR PPF

While this polyurethane-based film is exceptionally durable, pliable, and strong, using the wrong aftercare products or cleaning techniques can damage the films integrity. This may lead to discoloration, reduced hydrophobic properties, and premature failure of the PPF material.

Please refer to each section within this document for the required aftercare procedures to maintain the PPF’s Manufacturers Warranty.

Maintenance

To properly maintain your PPF, it is important that you keep it clean and free from contamination. We recommend washing your vehicle weekly – especially if you live in dusty climates or those with excessive pollen. If you notice any kind of bird droppings, tree sap, bug splatters, or water spotting on your vehicle’s PPF, clean it off as soon as possible using Americana Global Detail Spray or Rinseless Wash.

Washing

Do NOT wash your paint protection film when the surface is warm to the touch, or in direct sunlight. Make sure the surface is cool to the touch prior to washing.

There are two washing methods that we recommend: The two bucket soap and water method & the rinseless wash. The products we recommend are:

  • Americana Ceramic Aftercare

  • Americana Detail Spray

  • Americana Rinseless

KEY TIPS ON WHAT TO AVOID

  • A paint protection film can be damaged due to using harsh chemicals – such as those used at commercial car washing facilities. These soaps are essentially the same as dish soap, meaning they are highly concentrated, with an extremely high pH level.

  • Avoid taking your vehicle through any kind of automatic car wash or brushless car wash. Always hand wash your vehicle. If you use a high-pressure hose, make sure to use the lightest spray pressure fitting.

  • Never use a pressure washer while washing your vehicle with PPF. A pressure washer can create too much pressure and lift the edges of the film off the paint.

  • Avoid parking near sprinklers, under trees, or under light posts.

Please follow these directions to ensure your window film cures correctly.

Curing

Do not roll your windows down for 3-5 days. The more sun and heat the vehicle sees, the faster the drying process. During the curing process the film may look:

  • Hazy

  • Foggy

  • Streaked

  • Orange peel texture

  • Water blisters

What to Avoid

Do not push or move any water that is trapped in between the glass and the film. It is CRITICAL to not use ANY cleaning solutions with ammonia or alcohols in the chemical. Avoid buildup of sand and dirt in the bottom gasket of a moving window. Avoid swinging seatbelt buckle into side window when unbuckling.

During the first month use light pressure when cleaning the tint. Prior to starting the window cleaning process, verify that the windows are cool to the touch. For best results the windows should be cool and out of direct sunlight. The cleaning supplies we recommend are:
